Year in Review: Finale Post

July 2012 - August 2012  July 4th of July - Celebrating the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays of the entire year. My family always celebrates the entire day, and our home town has lots of activities and things to do.  In fact! While I was on my mission for 18 months, away from my family, with no contact (basically) the only time I was homesick was on the 4th of July.  At the parade with Noah and Abbi. This year was amazing! I missed the sunrise ceremony, but made it to the parade.  The best part about the 4th of July is how many old familiar faces you see, and the community  feeling as you celebrate together.  I literally almost cried at the parade, the feeling of patriotism and community was so strong, and they had an amazing marching band from a college come and perform, the first in years. I should have recorded it.  After the parade we had a great time at the carnival in the park where my dad rushed over to his favo...

Year in Review: Part C

April 2012 - August 2012 April you say banana Mutant Banana -  Guess what I found? A frightening banana, that didn't look right to anyone.  Two for the price of one?   Not sure its a prize worth winning. May Beautiful Lake Tahoe Lake Tahoe -  Ok, so really I had to go to Reno for the national ABPA conference.  Being president sure does have some glamorous benefits.  Lucky for me I came into some $$ not of my own and after following my non-social friend Danny around the slot machines for a while, I spent 12 hours sitting at a blackjack table. I won a lot, it was a great time, I tipped even more and walked away with.....enough for breakfast.  Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine To recover my grumpy little friend drove me to Lake Tahoe, I woke up 3 times. Once to take this picture.  The second time to eat lunch and take a picture of the amazing dancing bear, and a third time to brief...

Summer Project #1 - The Hydrant Sprinkler

So, I recently took after my sisters and made a lengthy list.  Mine is of house projects I would like to do, or save up for (is more realistic).  My first project was to move my birthday present from Jeremy, a Pacific State fire hydrant, from my patio so we wouldn't be the junk yard neighbors. Birthday Present 2010 Pre Make Over Although it was a good looking hydrant before I started working on it, our patio is only 10' and it was a little out of place, and in the way. A little TLC is understatement.  I took the entire hydrant apart (hydrant anatomy lesson post forthcoming), drilled new holes in different pieces, greased it up, repainted it, designed and implemented a new plumbing system and........ VOILA!!! I had a brand new sprinkler for our flower bed/veggie garden.  Note:  there are three sprinklers built into the hydrant, which I might have connected to our landscape sprinkler system without permission from the HOA.  Also n...

New Blog - Kind Of

There are plenty of things I should have blogged about. But let's face it....I'm not much for correspondence. And really no one reads my blog so I guess no one's missing out. Here's a quick update. I graduated from college with a bachelors degree in business (and a slight emphasis in entrepreneurship). I'm not an entrepreneur. I got a promotion at work. It officially starts July 1. I'll be a manager in the public works department at the city I work for. It's exciting, and sad, and exciting. Water will always have my heart. That's probably enough for updates really. I turned my business class blog into a blog to dump some of my old writing onto...and any new stuff....if there is ever any new stuff. But I'm not a writer, so don't get too excited. But I do wonder what someone might think, morbid curiosity I guess. http:// iwroteiwrite . blogspot .com See you in 4 months. akh
