Year in Review: Part II

January 2012 - March 2012

January

New Years - Every January my family has a fancy New Year's dinner, rarely on New Years.  My mom made it up to teach us manners, how to behave appropriately in public and at people's homes.  It was the only dinner of the year where everyone came fully clothed, used napkins, and was barred from expelling bodily gases.  Though, I did light a table decoration on fire once, it got me put outside on the porch in the cold.

One of our traditions is to write down important, or significant events and accomplishments of the year and then write down on the other side what we are looking forward to. Goals, anticipated events, etc.  Its always fun to look back at the previous years, and to realize that, despite feeling like you're coasting along doing nothing, every year is full and memorable in its own way.  (2 things on my list this year that I'll share, starting my MBA degree and The Boy having The Boy Jr, but with red hair, I"m 1-0 so far...there's still time)

Haha so funny.
Brian Reagan - Joey made us go to a Brian Reagan comedy show.  I don't love Brian Reagan as much as she and Jake does, but once you get used to his yelling, and odd timing, he is pretty funny.  Check it out.

February

Mouse Revenge - From beyond the grave the mouse whom I murdered in November (see previous post).  Got the last laugh.  Did you know there is a hidden cutting board in my kitchen? I didn't, until I found it, and pulled it out and found the epicenter of all hantavirus....so wrong...so very wrong.  I didn't take a picture of it, no one needs to see that in their kitchen, never ever.

Miss President - At the annual conference for the Utah Chapter of the American Backflow Prevention Association I took over as President.  The best part? Working with a herd of boys who, in behalf of my brothers, tease me about it more often than not.  The members may be regretting their decision at this point, but I'm not quite ready to give up yet....maybe next week.

HAWAII - That's right, Hawaii.  My sister got a good deal on a plane ticket, and later told me about it, so I got an expensive deal on a plane ticket and went with her.  We had a great time. Hawaii is beautiful and worth seeing, but without the singing whales it wouldn't be worth it.

View for the whale watching boat, my phone doesn't do it justice. Quintessential Hawaii at its best.

A very relaxed Wendy at the luau.

Me on the way to my second ocean dive.  LOVED IT!
I wanted to see a whale underwater sooooo bad, but listening to them sing was just as good.
View from our condo, right across from the beach, it was pretty great.
We even had front row seats to the Whale Day Parade.

March

The Lost Texan - My friend Marti was able to open a new location for her original Texas BBQ at the Remuda Golf Course.  It is the best bbq I've ever had, you should try it if you're close by.  Check out her website at http://www.losttexanbbq.com and/or like her on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lost-Texan-BBQ/112944942085911

Sold Maggie - Yes, my car had a name, and she was a girl, look how cute she was how could she not be a girl.  After 7 years we parted ways, mostly by accident, and followed by weeks of incredible sellers remorse.  She was a great little car, and looked beautiful after I cleaned her up.  If you're wondering if KSL works, it does. I literally sold her in 15 minutes.

Bought Blue/Bleu - After losing Maggie, I was in the market for a slight more non-high school car.  Something with four doors and a blutooth system so I can talk on the phone handsfree so I can drive without killing people by falling asleep.  It works great! if people answer the phone when I call.

So Bleu is a boy, he got his name from the license plate that came in the mail.  It has C90 in it, so naturally it made me think of the blue pvc pipe used in water systems which is C-900, so blue, but because my family loves oxen it could also be after Babe the blue ox.  And for short I like to call him Chucho.

City Creek - Wendy talked me, my parents and Joey into going to visit the newly opened, downtown Salt Lake revitalization development, City Creek.  Wendy has been working on it for years, it was a great end to a really really long work story. They always bring me and my dad to entertain each other while they are free to take as long as they want doing boring stuff like shopping.  I love the downtown Harmons, and the fish in the creek, and the ample parking, you should go for a visit, if the weather is nice they'll open the ceiling.

In case you're confused about the title being part II, I realize I haven't reviewed the full year, there is one more post to come, and then a long winter's break.

I found Part II equally, if not more, interesting. Maybe because you had more pictures? Or maybe because Brian Regan made his debut on your blog? Or maybe because you know that you and dad are each other's decoys while we're out.

Sugar.

I felt like making a special tribute to Sugar, my long time friend. From a very young age I began a relationship with this delightful substance. My mother would add Karo syrup to my formula, and we haven't been parted since. I think to say that I love sugar is an understatement. I love water, I love hotdogs, but Sugar?...I can't survive without it. Although avoiding diabetes could be impossible, I can't resist. Whether it's a brownie for breakfast, a little sugar packet while waiting for food at the restaurant, or what ever misc. sugar laced deliciousness I eat in my sleep I just can't let go. I can't say that I've never tried to stop, to break the connection that we have. It was a terrible experience, that left people wondering if I was really a coke addict (not the beverage). So our relationship will be life long, its either all or none of us, we'll go down together. Here's to you sugar, and your secret powers to brighten every day.

Summer Project #1 - The Hydrant Sprinkler

So, I recently took after my sisters and made a lengthy list.  Mine is of house projects I would like to do, or save up for (is more realistic).  My first project was to move my birthday present from Jeremy, a Pacific State fire hydrant, from my patio so we wouldn't be the junk yard neighbors. Birthday Present 2010 Pre Make Over Although it was a good looking hydrant before I started working on it, our patio is only 10' and it was a little out of place, and in the way. A little TLC is understatement.  I took the entire hydrant apart (hydrant anatomy lesson post forthcoming), drilled new holes in different pieces, greased it up, repainted it, designed and implemented a new plumbing system and........ VOILA!!! I had a brand new sprinkler for our flower bed/veggie garden.  Note:  there are three sprinklers built into the hydrant, which I might have connected to our landscape sprinkler system without permission from the HOA.  Also note:  the sprinkler o

I Hate Disneyland

It's true. Although this, my third time, was much more successful than preceding visits. Honestly, the first day was almost a success until I was tricked into riding the elevator to hell. Straight to hell. I know that you can't wait to read how I really feel about it. Here are my thoughts on the "Magical Kingdom". A. Its full of people, thousands and thousands of people. Let's face it I can't even go to Target on a Saturday without getting a little angry. 2. Germs. You can't have thousands of people without billions of germs crawling on things from unwashed hands, sneezing, coughing, throwing up, etc. III. Walking. I appreciate a nice brisk walk now and then, but 20 miles later the appreciation start to wane, just slightly. Q. Strollers. I hate strollers, it makes me shiver just to think about it. Although, I might change my opinion on strollers if next time someone pushes me in one. In conclusion, I love Space Mountain, I want to ride it every day 15 ti
